IATF 02-2022 Master Thesis: CFD Simulation of droplet impact on a hot wall
Job description
The phenomena of evaporative liquid droplets impacting onto heated wall of high temperature are relevance of many engineering problems, such as sprinkler systems for spray cooling, impingement of oil droplets on turbine engines. When the wall temperature is high enough, the vapor pressure generated from the droplet evaporation prevents the direct contact of the droplet with the solid surface. The heat transfer between them will be hindered. The aim of this work is to conduct a three-dimensional numerical simulation of droplet impact on a hot wall.
The individual tasks are as follows:
- Literature review
- CFD simulation of droplet impact on a hot wall using ANSYS Software
- Investigate the parameters affect Leidenfrost temperature
- Calculate the evaporation rate of droplets
Personal qualification
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or similar
- Basic knowledge of fluid mechanics or multiphase flows
- Basic experience in ANSYS will be better
On request, the work can also be offered as a bachelor thesis
