Vacancy No. 80/2020

Research Associate (f/m/d) with doctoral qualification

Physics or Material Science

Job description

Your research is concentrated on the investigation of the growth of optoelectronic nanostructures and thin layers, in particular based on InAlGaN, as well as with their comprehensive structural characterization. Your tasks in detail include:

  • production of the structures by means of organometallic gas phase epitaxy (MOVPE) and their analysis using in-situ X-ray methods using synchrotron radiation and complementary analytical methods
  • conducting growth studies
  • collaboration on the implementation and documentation of the MOVPE reactor on the NANO beamline
  • implementation and use of X-ray scattering experiments for in-situ and ex-situ characterization of growth processes

In addition, you are actively involved in the advancement and maintenance of scientific research collaborations and you will take over the acquisition and coordination of national and international research projects in the nanosciences.

Personal qualification

You hold a university degree (diploma (university)/master) in physics or materials science with a completed doctorate as well as in-depth knowledge in the field of semiconductor or thin-film technology. You also have practical experience in the operation of MOVPE reactors and in project management. Prior knowledge of UHV surface characterization methods, X-ray characterization methods of thin films and synchrotron experiments would be advantageous. Very good knowledge of German and English is expected.
