Physicist (f/m/d) with doctoral qualification

Job description

Your tasks involve the development of hierarchical imaging, using a combination of parallel-beam methods and X-ray microscopy based on absorption, phase and spectroscopic contrast, and its application in the materials and life sciences. The work will include appropriate scientific equipment development and the integration of new components for X-ray microscopy, microtomography and laminography at the IPS measuring stations at the KIT Synchrotron and at its external synchrotron measuring stations at the ESRF and DESY.

You will also support the acquisition of third-party funded research projects and research collaborations at KIT and with external research groups, and assume responsibility for the coordination of national and international research projects in the field of modern X-ray Physics.

Personal qualification

You hold a university degree in physics (diploma (university)/master) with a completed doctorate and several years of professional experience in research with synchrotron radiation and/or imaging X-ray methods. You have experience of development of instrumentation such as detectors, beamlines and/or X-ray optics and complex measurement setups, preferably in the fields of materials or life sciences. Knowledge of project management, programming knowledge in relevant programming languages ​​such as IDL, Matlab, C++ and/or Python and good knowledge of English are required.


Salary category 13, depending on the fulfillment of professional and personal requirements.
