Expert (f/m/d) for sustainability assessment of energy technologies (preferably with PhD)

Research Assistant (f/m/d)

Job description

You are responsible for the analysis of the ecological, economic and social impacts of emergent electrochemical energy storage systems. You will also be responsible for the methodological development of prospective approaches to sustainability assessment in early development phases. You will publish the results of your research in the relevant journals and present them at national and international conferences. Your job profile includes also the supervision of students (f/m/d) and doctoral students (f/m/d). Your workplace will be at the Institute for Technology Assessment and Systems Analysis (ITAS) in Karlsruhe.

Personal qualification

You have a university degree (diploma/master) in environmental sciences, chemistry or a comparable natural science subject with a doctorate and several years of professional experience in systems analysis, sustainability assessment and/or technology assessment. In addition to sound knowledge of environmental analysis, cost analysis and social impact analysis, you will also have knowledge of modelling for (social) life cycle assessment (LCA) and life cycle costing. Experience in the analysis and evaluation of new or developing technologies is just as important as an understanding of chemical and production processes. The willingness to learn German language is a further asset.
