Vacancy No. 268/2020
In the high-ranking excellence strategy competition launched by the Federation and the federal states to foster cutting-edge research at German universities, KIT has succeeded in acquiring two clusters of excellence.
Successful implementation of the energy transition requires new materials and technologies for electricity storage. The “Post Lithium Storage” (POLiS) cluster of excellence run jointly by KIT and Ulm University is mainly aimed at developing fundamental understanding of electrochemical energy storage in novel systems, relating basic material properties to critical performance parameters, and, in this way, creating the basis for using post-lithium storage technologies in practice.
Your area of responsibility extends from the preparation of polymer films to the assembly and characterization of test cells. The focus is on the polymer-based material, which is to be investigated using electrochemical and mechanical analysis methods to derive structure-property relationships. Another focus is the investigation of the interactions between different electrolytes and electrode materials, especially by means of isothermal microcalorimetry. You will publish the research results you have obtained in relevant journals and present them at national and international scientific conferences. The possibility of obtaining a doctorate in addition to scientific work is given and explicitly desired. Participation in the GS-EES graduate school offers a wide range of further training opportunities and funding for stays abroad. The workplace is in Ulm.
You obtained a university degree (diploma (university) / master) in the field of chemistry or engineering with experience in the field of synthesis and processing of polymers or in electrolyte development. We require very good spoken and written English skills. Ideally, you have knowledge in the field of calorimetry.
Salary category 13, depending on the fulfillment of professional and personal requirements.
