Research Software Engineer (f/m/d)

Job description

We are looking for a research software engineer to support the NFDI4Chem (nfdi4chem.de) team at KIT. Your work includes software development of Smartlab applications and tools (e.g. electronic laboratory notebooks, short ELN) as well as the extension of existing subject-specific repositories with new functions. Furthermore, you will contribute to the development of interfaces for the integration of various repositories and tools in chemistry, fostering FAIR research data management (RDM). You will be part of a team that takes responsibility to distribute the developed software and to orchestrate instances with technologies such as docker, kubernetes etc. You will also contribute to the documentation of all developed systems.

You work in an interdisciplinary team together with skilled software developers, research data experts and chemistry researchers and have possibilities to publish results in scientific journals and present your work at conferences.

Personal qualification

You have a university degree (PhD or Master) in computer science (or cheminformatics), engineering or a similar field. You have strong skills and experience in at least one modern programming language and scripting languages (e.g. JavaScript, Ruby, Python, PHP), databases (e.g. PostgreSQL) and with software development tools. Ideally, you are familiar with chemical workflows, RDM and Linux and you have experience in the operation and administration of IT services. Finally, you are able to demonstrate a high level of proficiency in German and/or English.

Salary

Salary category 13, depending on the fulfillment of professional and personal requirements.
